Jasper Johns was born on May 15, 1930, in Georgia (United States). He is considered one of the most important artists of the second half of the 20th century.
A draftsman and a painter, he is the founder of American Pop art, along with Robert Rauschenberg. His first works are series representing flags, numbers or targets on the canvas. Everyday objects, utensils or tin cans, treated as spare parts, occupy an important place in his work.
