“Women in the Work of Julio Gonzalez”, IVAM Centre Julio Gonzalez, 27/03/2026-28/02/2027

This new exhibition at the IVAM Centre Julio González, curated by Brigitte Léal, former head of collections at the MNAM Centre Pompidou, explores for the first time the omnipresence of women in the work of Julio González: family portraits, depictions of women in modern life,  academic or abstract nudes, real and idealised figures, historical and political allegories, all form part of González’s stylistic exploration of full to empty forms, from figuration to abstraction.  This chronological and thematic presentation of the collection underscores the major stages of his evolution, linking life and creation, intimacy and history.

The exhibition opens on March 27th–the date of González’s death– and runs through February 28, 2027.
