González is one of the artists featured in “The Aesthetic Transition. Spain: 1960-2020”, an exhibition that opened on October 16 at the Fundacion Juan March (Madrid). This show retraces the delayed arrival of Spanish and international contemporary art in Franco’s Spain, and its subsequent public reception over the next six decades.

González, whose first posthumous Spanish exhibition took place in 1960 in Madrid and Barcelona, is represented by his “La Petite faucille” (1937), a hybrid figure emblematic of his resistance against Francoism and his solidarity with his compatriots.
