“Julio González: Dessiner dans l’espace”, Château La Coste, 10/10/26-17/01/27

“Julio González: Dessiner dans l’espace” opened at the Château La Coste’s galerie Bastide on October 10. This thoughtfully curated selection of 80 works, including drawings, sculptures and never before seen jewellery and objets d’art, dates primarily to the 1930s, when González was at the pinnacle of his career.

The exhibition’s masterful staging creates a fruitful dialogue between drawing and sculpture, art and craftsmanship, figurative and abstracted figures, from elegant dancers to screaming country mothers who embody González’s solidarity with civilian victims of war.

González’s role as a pioneer of modern sculpture’s is further cemented through the juxtaposition of his work with monumental sculptures by contemporary creators such as Louise Bourgeois, Alexander Calder, Richard Serra, and Sean Scully, on permanent display in the Chateau La Coste’s outdoor sculpture garden, nestled amongst its bucolic hills and vineyards.

On view through January 17th (galerie Bastide).
