FIGURE ABSTRAITE – ABSTRACT FIGURE
1942
Medium : Bronze
Dimensions : 31,5 x 22 x 23 cm
Figure abstraite (Abstract figure) is one of Julio González’s last works.
It is an assembly of curves and vertical ascending diagonals, which take the form of a person who is rising. Executed during the Nazi Occupation of Paris, this work rendered in the forbidden avant-gardiste aesthetic testifies to the inventiveness and resistance at the heart of Julio González’s late work. This sculpture is housed in the IVAM Centre Julio González.
