From April 2, 2024 through March 9, 2025, an ensemble of her paintings, drawings, illustrated books, objets d&#8217;art and archives will be on display, following a donation of artwork from the artist&#8217;s estate.  The donation enriches the preexisting collection of her work acquired during the artist&#8217;s lifetime.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container 1937-1938, MNAM<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Roberta Gonz\u00e1lez&#8217;s work is focused on the female figure, represented through various identities and styles. \u00a0Whether they are naturalistic or avant-gardist, painted or drawn, distressed or stoic, the common thread among her country women, mothers and portraits is their piercing gaze, tinted with nostalgia, a touch of\u00a0defiance, and determination. \u00a0Their gazes scrutinize, question and analyze, just like the artist herself, as she sought out her own artistic path in a world turned upside down by war and the artist. \u00a0Her distressed, distorted female figures, portrayed in twisted postures and with fragmented volumes, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencespo.fr\/artsetsocietes\/en\/archives\/700\">are her response to the conflict that erupts in Spain, the Gonz\u00e1lez family&#8217;s homeland, before escalating into World War II.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a had changed. \u00a0She manages to free herself from the shadow of war and to <a href=\"https:\/\/juliogonzalez.org\/en\/2022\/09\/02\/roberta-gonzalez-the-art-of-de-voler-de-ses-propres-ailes-galerie-espace-des-femmes-paris-9-au-30-sept-2022\/\">develop a unique personal style<\/a>, based on the synergy of contrasts: light\/dark, abstraction\/figuration, movement\/stillness, melancholy\/joy. \u00a0This duality is a reflection of the artist&#8217;s own identities: French and Spanish, artist and promoter of her father&#8217;s work, playful but sensitive.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This ensemble will be enriched with documents from the artist&#8217;s personal archives
