Bien que connu principalement aujourd&#8217;hui pour sa sculpture r\u00e9volutionnaire,\u00a0Gonz\u00e1lez s&#8217;installe \u00e0 Paris en 1899 afin de devenir peintre. Il s&#8217;investit dans la peinture jusqu&#8217;a la fin des ann\u00e9es 1920, lorsqu&#8217;il accepte que la sculpture est sa v\u00e9ritable vocation.
