This thoughtfully curated selection of 80 works, including drawings, sculptures and never before seen jewellery and objets d\u2019art, dates primarily to the 1930s, when Gonz\u00e1lez was at the pinnacle of his career.<\/p>\n\n

The exhibition\u2019s masterful staging creates a fruitful dialogue between drawing and sculpture, art and craftsmanship, figurative and abstracted figures, from elegant dancers to screaming country mothers who embody Gonz\u00e1lez\u2019s solidarity with civilian victims of war.<\/p>\n\n

Gonz\u00e1lez\u2019s role as a pioneer of modern sculpture\u2019s is further cemented through the juxtaposition of his work with monumental sculptures by contemporary creators such as Louise Bourgeois, Alexander Calder, Richard Serra, and Sean Scully, on permanent display in the Chateau La Coste\u2019s outdoor sculpture garden, nestled amongst its bucolic hills and vineyards.<\/p>\n\n
