Artisan metal-worker, painter and skilled draftsman, Julio Gonz\u00e1lez sets himself apart as one of the most innovative artists of the 20th century<\/strong> through his iron sculpture<\/strong>. By breaking the boundaries between artistic and industrial practices, Gonzalez is the first to “draw in space” with iron<\/strong>, integrating space as a constructive element in his compositions.<\/p>\n

This important Julio Gonz\u00e1lez retrospective retraces the major phases in the evolution of his work in Paris, from his early metal masks made with the repouss\u00e9 technique in the 1910-1920s, to his mature works of the 1930-1940s which revolutionize iron sculpture.\u00a0 \u00a0The works presented come for the most part from the collection of the Mus\u00e9e National d\u2019art Moderne (MNAM) of Paris.\u00a0 The exhibition will be on display at the Centre Pompidou M\u00e1laga from May 27 to October 17, 2021.<\/p>\n
