González Prize 2012 – Bernar Venet

Bernar Venet - 2012/2013

Bernar Venet is a French artist, born in 1941 in Château-Arnoux-Saint-Auban. As a young adult, he travels to the United States, where he frequents prominent American artists. Known as a skilled draftsman, he also forges a reputation for his monumental steel sculptures.

The installation of his gigantic, indeterminate lines on the parvis of the IVAM are like a forest of steel, offering diverse perspectives to the public.

As an art collector and aficionado, Venet is familiar with and appreciates the work of Julio González.
